Rhosygilwen, Pembrokeshire – Planning Consultancy – Wind Turbine

In 2023, Infinite was approached by the owner of Rhosygilwen Mansion, a music and wedding venue, in Pembrokeshire.

The Mansion House was heated using a ground source heat pump, with electricity generated by an existing solar farm.  However, there was a mismatch from the existing solar generation for the heating/winter season.  High energy costs during the winter months, meant that the owner of the Mansion wanted to find a green, low cost solution in addition to their solar farm.  A wind turbine was therefore the solution to supply the large majority of power required to run the heat pump during the winter season.

Infinite provided robust planning support, preparing and submitting the planning application. This was a challenging site, as Rhosygilwen Mansion is a Grade II listed building and there were concerns about the potential impact on the heritage asset and its setting.  Aviation operation safety issues were also raised by West Wales Airport located about 9.5km from the site.

Infinite worked closely with the statutory consultees and consultant team to find a solution to overcome the objections received and be able to deliver an appropriate development that would not compromise the heritage asset and its setting or aviation safety.

The planning application was approved at Planning Committee in April 2024.
