In collaboration with a major energy supplier, Infinite supplied a 15kW mobile turbine, otherwise known as Fat Boy Spin, to Berlin to support the WIRED Energy Tech Summit. Fat Boy Spin is a Bestwatt 15kW turbine decorated with vibrant purples and pinks. The 15kW turbine is smaller in size than the original Gusty 45kW turbine and with a lower tower height of 15m. The turbine was installed on Köpenicker Strasse, Berlin for the one day of the tech summit.
Infinite supplied the purple and pink turbine and project managed the development, selecting the turbine location, installing the turbine and managing the operation during its stay at Berlin. Once delivered onsite, the turbine was built in just 8 hours.
Fat Boy Spin is part of the ‘try before you buy’ scheme which allows communities to try out a wind turbine in their neighbourhood. Infinite has relocated the larger Gusty Spinfield 45kW turbine to a range of locations including Alexandra Palace in London, Glastonbury in Somerset and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s River Cottage. Infinite is an authorised supplier of Bestwatt turbines.
