Kenfig Energy Centre is located on Kenfig Industrial Estate in Port Talbot and is one of six Local Energy Centres developed by Infinite, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Infinite installed an EWT 900kW wind turbine to supply discounted green energy to John Pye Auctions located in the adjacent premises on the industrial estate.
A roof-top solar array and BESS was installed at Celtic Chemicals, enabling Celtic Chemicals to access cheaper electricity and move towards their net zero carbon ambitions.
The EWT 900kW turbines has a 61m rotor diameter and a 69m tower but the generation is constrained by National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) to 500kW. The turbine is constrained because the available grid capacity in the area cannot accommodate the full 900kW generation capability of the wind turbine.
Infinite are continuing to develop the site so that more generation can be consumed within the industrial estate and the wind turbine can generate at maximum capacity.
