Infinite Renewables managed the installation of the temporary turbine named ‘Gusty Spinfield’ for the Kaleidoscope Festival 2024 and summer series of concerts at Alexandra Palace. The 45kW Bestwatt turbine moved to Alexandra Palace after its installation at Glastonbury. Gusty is 20 metres tall with 8 metre long blades covered in pink and purple. Infinite also designed a bespoke ballasted foundation for the installation. During Alexandra Palace’s ‘Summer Season’ which hosted an array of outdoor concerts, the turbine helped to power bars and food stands.
Alexandra Palace’s ambition is to be sustainable in everything they do and to reduce their impact on the environment. Utilising the temporary wind turbine allowed the venue to trial green energy and explore longer term renewable energy opportunities.
Gusty Spinfield is part of the ‘try before you buy’ scheme which allows communities to try out a wind turbine in their neighbourhood. Infinite has relocated the turbine to a range of locations including Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s River Cottage in Devon, Glastonbury in Somerset and Köpenicker Strasse in Berlin. Infinite is also an authorised supplier of Bestwatt small scale turbines.
