Their early business model was both practical and forward looking. Infinite entered into Power Purchase Agreements, supplying locally generated wind power directly to businesses through private wire connections. This approach reduced reliance on the national grid while giving customers long term price certainty and a tangible connection to the energy they were using. With investment support from Albion Capital, Infinite achieved its ambition to co own and operate a growing portfolio of turbine developments, laying strong foundations for future growth.

One of the first forecourts to offer this technology in the UK is based in Wales and has recently been opened by Infinite Renewables, a Welsh-based company that specialises in the design, development and management of renewable energy schemes.

The post Infinite Renewables Powers Up UK’s First Wind Turbine-Integrated EV Charging Stations in the UK appeared first on Infinite Renewables.

Unlike conventional charging stations that run off the grid and have a blended electricity source, the new charging points are powered by green energy when the turbine is turning. This helps to make EV vehicles even more sustainable and contributes to the Welsh Government’s decarbonisation targets.

Using renewable energy also enables Infinite to offer lower charging costs to users.

The new charging station is very competitive when compared to normal ultra-rapid charging which is around 80p per kWh.

The turbine-powered charging station relieves capacity pressure from an increasingly stressed grid network. It also increases the revenue yield from an existing operating renewable asset and it provides substantial savings to the EV charging public with discounted unit costs for the power

The post Infinite develops one of the first wind turbine-powered charging stations in the UK appeared first on Infinite Renewables.

The system comprises a 15kWp solar PV system, battery energy storage scheme, inverter/charger, electric vehicle fast charger and control system that provides a 100% autonomous power system.

The system was commissioned at the beginning of February 2025 and worked very effectively during poor solar irradiation levels. Infinite designed the system according to Salix’s specific requirements. It has been fitted with an air-source heat pump, and can accommodate a small wind charger if energy demand increases in the winter.

David Holland Managing Director of Salix Ltd. Stated, “We are delighted with the off-grid power system and the service provided by Infinite Renewables. The Bryniau Bach (Little Hills) site is located on a SSSI so harnessing renewable energy to deliver electricity to our new building was a major priority. The scheme has exceeded our expectations, and we are actively looking at a number of other sites in West Wales to deliver similar technologies such as our Seagrass project in Pendine.”

Iestyn Morgan commented, “It’s been a pleasure working with Salix to deliver their off grid renewable scheme, and we look forward to delivering further projects for Salix in Wales.”

Ashley Jones, Senior Investment Executive at the Development Bank of Wales, said: “Businesses across Wales are looking for ways to cut their energy use and make their operations more sustainable. Infinite Renewables Wales are there to deliver projects exactly like this, and it’s excellent to see that they’ve been able to provide the new facility which Salix needed.”

The project has been fully funded by Infinite Renewables Wales, with the energy savings used to pay for the system under a long-term power purchase agreement.

The first phase of the development is a 0.5MW ground mounted solar farm, which was granted planning consent in October 2024.

The second phase is the installation of an 80kW wind turbine. Aviation House maintains aircraft jet engines and Willis wanted the turbine to represent their specialist sector. Infinite took on the concept and produced a unique jet engine design for the turbine nacelle that represented Willis Assets services at Aviation House.  The planning application was submitted in December 2024 and is pending a decision.

Together the solar farm and wind turbine will provide Aviation House with a direct supply of green energy, supplying them with more than 85% of their on-site energy demand.

Infinite are designing, managing and submitting the planning applications for the site. Infinite will also project manage the construction of the development and maintain the solar and wind turbine thereafter.

Remade Britain is a campaign that promotes economic growth through focusing on building infrastructure in the UK faster. The campaign aims to deliver new homes, clean energy and transport infrastructure faster through reforming the planning system.

Gusty Spinfield is part of the ‘try before you buy’ scheme which allows communities to try out a wind turbine in their neighbourhood. Infinite has relocated the turbine to a range of locations including Alexandra Palace in London, Glastonbury in Somerset and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s River Cottage. Infinite is an authorised supplier of BestWatt small scale turbines.
