Goathill Quarry, Cowdenbeath – 1.5MW Vensys Wind Turbine

Infinite supply renewable energy to Goat Hill Quarry through a 1.5MW Vensys wind turbine. The development supplies power to the quarry through a private wire directly connecting to the business. The main challenge that arose during the development was the grid connection; to make the 3 km long connection, detailed plans had to be made which included digging up Cowdenbeath high street. Infinite successfully project managed this challenge with minimal disruption and connected the wind turbine to the grid network. Once the works were complete, the road was restored to its original condition.

The project was financed by Albion Capital, a ‘specialist venture capital investor that backs visionary founders and technologies’. Albion Capital and Infinite have had an ongoing project partnership since the development of their first project together in 2010.

Nant y Caws, Camarthen – EWT 500kW Wind Turbine

CWM Environmental operates a purpose-built household and commercial waste management facility at Nant y Caws, in the heart of West Wales. CWM pride themselves on sustainability and their role in decreasing Carmarthenshire’s environmental footprint. In 2013, CWM Environmental decided they wanted to install renewable energy onto the site to further reduce the environmental impact of their operations. The EWT 500kW wind turbine was installed at CWM Environmental’s Nant y caws site in 2014 by Infinite.

Infinite gained the planning consent for the wind turbine and sourced the EWT 500kW turbine that best suited the needs of the site and project managed its installation. The wind turbine connects via a private wire to directly power CWM Environmental’s material recycling facilities (MRFs) and headquarters. Any surplus energy generated by the turbine is exported to the national grid.

CWM Environmental operates recycling centres across Carmarthenshire and is committed to recycling as much material as possible. In 2023, their recycling centres diverted 21,506 tonnes of waste from landfill. After a fire in 2021 that devastated the Nant y caws recycling facility, CWM Environmental started rebuilding a larger facility that will continue to reduce their carbon emissions.

Scoveston, Milford Haven – EWT 500kW Wind Turbine

In 2013, Infinite installed a 500kW wind turbine at Scoveston Farm at Milford Haven. For this project, Infinite sourced the EWT 500kW turbine to install. The annual generation of the turbine is approximately 1,600 MWh per annum. The wind turbine generation is exported directly to the national grid. Scoveston’s wind turbine helps Wales meet their target of 70% of electricity to be generated from renewable energy sources.

Redlands Monier – Powerwind 500kW Wind Turbine

In 2010, Infinite installed their first wind turbine and began their financial partnership with Albion Capital. A Powerwind 500kW turbine was installed at Unit 15 on Rassau Industrial Estate. The turbine is connected via a private wire that provides discounted, green energy to Redland Monier – a roof tile manufacturer. Redland Monier’s commitment to producing their own green energy meant they became one of the first manufacturing sites in the UK to install a wind turbine that met their energy needs. Just over ten years later, Infinite would install a second turbine (as well as solar and batteries) on the industrial estate at Unit 19.

Albion Capital is a ‘specialist venture capital investor that backs visionary founders and technologies’. Infinite and Albion Capital continue to have a relationship after first working together in 2010 on the Redlands Monier wind turbine.

Since this first turbine installation, Infinite has gone on to project manage turbines both locally and internationally; collaborating with locally businesses as well as larger companies such as Octopus Energy.
