Case Studies
February 2024 – A Micro-grid design Case study
A new Energy Centre for the Island of Sark
Infinite Renewables has been tasked to design a new Energy Centre on the Island of Sark, a self governing island of just 500 inhabitants located 21 miles off the coast of France, in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
We will provide a detailed design incorporating the best mix and capacity of wind, solar, battery storage and diesel generators to meet the current needs of the island’s population whilst also allowing for future growth in demand.
The design presents a number of challenges such as the logistics of bringing a wind turbine to an Island with no cars or lorries and a small harbour.
Once a decision has been made on a preferred design, the new grid and Energy Centre could be completed by the end of 2025.
January 2024 – A Mobile renewables installation Case study
A first renewables installation at Glastonbury 2023
Infinite Renewables was approached by Octopus Energy Generation to project manage the temporary installation of the colourfully painted ‘Gusty Spinfield’ wind turbine at the 2023 Glastonbury festival.
This energy model which included solar and battery, with its name voted for by Octopus Energy’s customers enabled the food stalls at the festival to be powered by renewable energy instead of diesel generators.
As the authorised supplier of Best Watt small scale turbines, Infinite organised delivery of the machine from Germany to the UK and designed the bespoke ballasted foundation for the install to happen in just six weeks.
Infinite has since relocated the turbine to Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s River Cottage in Devon for the next leg of its energising journey.
