Infinite Calls for ‘Clean Energy’ Poster Ideas

In partnership with The Royal Mint and to mark the success of a five-year renewables project, Infinite is inviting Year 6 classes at schools in all six of its Local Energy Centre catchment areas in south Wales to create a bilingual ‘Clean Energy’ poster. The competition aims to help children understand the concept and environmental benefits of clean energy as Wales moves towards a Zero Carbon future.

The six winners will be invited, along with class members to The Royal Mint Experience where they will strike their own coins and discover some of the ways The Royal Mint is working towards a more sustainable future. 

A bespoke workshop will introduce pupils to the Royal Mint’s colourful wind turbine, Delilah which was installed by Infinite in 2018 and is part of a multi-technology Local Energy Centre which is under construction at the site.  

Using a scale, working model of the turbine, the pupils will explore how it is used to generate energy that helps power The Royal Mint.  Currently, Delilah supplies up to 10% of the Royal Mint’s demand at its site in Llantrisant. Pupils will be able to interact with the model and discover ways of making the turbine work more efficiently. They will also build their own miniature working turbines to take home.  

The competition will be judged by the naturalist and broadcaster Iolo Williams who will meet all six individual winners at The Royal Mint Experience, later in the year.

The competition closes on the 27^th of January 2023 with the Winners announced on the 28^th of February 2023. The school visits will take place during the Spring / Summer of 2023.

Mewn partneriaeth â’r The Royal Mint ac i nodi llwyddiant prosiect ynni adnewyddadwy pum mlynedd o hyd, mae Infinite yn gwahodd dosbarthiadau Blwyddyn 6 mewn ysgolion ym mhob un o’i chwe talgylch Canolfan Ynni Lleol yn ne Cymru i greu poster ‘Ynni Glân’ dwyieithog. Nod y gystadleuaeth yw helpu plant i ddeall cysyniad a manteision amgylcheddol ynni glân wrth i Gymru symud tuag at ddyfodol Di-Garbon.

Gwahoddir y chwe enillydd, ynghyd ag aelodau dosbarth i The Royal Mint Experience lle byddant yn streicio eu darnau arian eu hunain ac yn darganfod rhai o’r ffyrdd y mae The Royal Mint yn gweithio tuag at ddyfodol mwy cynaliadwy.

Bydd gweithdy pwrpasol yn cyflwyno disgyblion i Delilah – tyrbin gwynt lliwgar The Royal Mint, a gafodd ei osod gan Infinite yn 2018 ag sy’n rhan o Ganolfan Ynni Lleol aml-dechnoleg sy’n cael ei hadeiladu ar y safle.

Gan ddefnyddio model o’r tyrbin sy’n gweithio ac ar raddfa, bydd y disgyblion yn archwilio sut mae’n cael ei ddefnyddio i gynhyrchu ynni sy’n helpu i bweru The Royal Mint. Ar hyn o bryd, mae Delilah yn cyflenwi hyd at 10% o alw The Royal Mint yn Llantrisant. Bydd disgyblion yn gallu rhyngweithio â’r model a darganfod ffyrdd o wneud i’r tyrbin weithio’n fwy effeithlon. Fe fyddan nhw hefyd yn adeiladu  tyrbinau bach sy’n gweithio i fynd adref gyda nhw.   

Bydd y gystadleuaeth yn cael ei beirniadu gan y naturiaethwr a’r darlledwr Iolo Williams a fydd yn cyfarfod â phob un o’r chwe enillydd unigol yn The Royal Mint Experience, yn nes ymlaen yn y flwyddyn.

Bydd y gystadleuaeth yn cau ar y 27ain o Ionawr 2023 gyda’r Enillwyr yn cael eu cyhoeddi ar y 28ain o Chwefror 2023. Bydd yr ymweliadau ysgol yn cael eu cynnal yn ystod y Gwanwyn/Haf 2023.
